AUSTRALIAN COMMUNITY NATIONAL COMPETITION (ACNC)
October 15, 2007
Short for the Australian Community National Competition, the ACNC is a Counter-Strike 1.6 competition that will be held for the community by the community. There will be qualifiers held around Australia and New Zealand to determine who gets to attend the finals held later this year in Queensland.
There are a number of organisations and teams working behind the scenes to make this the biggest and best national competition seen in Australia. So far it’s been very successful in doing so as dates for qualifiers have already been released after a month of preparation. We hope to see the success of ACNC continue throughout the following months.
DICEVIP will be attending the first and possibly second Victorian qualifier in hope to score tickets to the finals. Held at ZoneAdrenaLAN Melbourne on the 13-14th of October you can find the team in action against other hopefuls in the first of two qualifiers.
The Queensland final will be held on the 24-25th of November. We hope to see you there!

The day has ended with the team coming 2nd behind the dF team. After previously defeating dF earlier in the day the team couldn’t repeat their performance in the final map. It was a good day all round, great games to all that attended.

WORLD CYBER GAMES 2007 Weekend Recapped
October 15, 2007

What an eventful weekend it was up in Sydney, long delays and steam errors ruined the first day of the Counter-Strike 1.6 competition which had looked so promising. However the venue itself was simply amazing, gaming booths, hardware performance booths, fast cars and even a boxing ring filled up the venue.
The weekend began with the long drive up from Melbourne with very limited food. It took just under 11 hours to get to where we needed to be, the Sydney Tower’s.

(Apartment room)
After settling into our 5 star apartment room we had a little exploring session of the city and had a quick look at the LCC competition. This was pretty much all that was done on the first day as we were all knackered from the trip up.

(Sydney)
Second day began at 7.30am where we got our game faces on and headed out to the WCG venue for the opening ceremony and our first match at 9.30am. This wasn’t the case though due to all the delays there was no opening ceremony and our first planned match, well that just never happened. After 11 hours of waiting and having nothing to eat the competition format was changed from group stages to a double elimination bracket. DICEVIP finally had their first match against MERGE at 8.30pm where we were defeated 16-06 and after another hour of waiting around we played our loser bracket match against Alternate where we won 16-04.
The team quickly got out of the venue and headed straight for china town where we indulged in some Asian foods, no longer having grumbling stomachs we went back to our room and crashed out.
The final day of competition saw the team get defeated by ENEMY 16-12 and that was it for the DICEVIP team. Taking some last minute tourist photos and saying our farewells, the long WCG campaign had ended and it was time to head back to Melbourne.
Almost crossing the boarder back into Victoria we were extremely excited and ecstatic that we were out of NSW, but wait what’s that in the rear view mirror… blue and red lights lit up the mirror and we got pulled over. “Sir did you realise you were going 123km/h in a 100 zone”, said the officer. Received a speeding fine of $238 which could’ve been spent on plane tickets instead, how ironic. On that note the team all arrived back in Melbourne safely.
Sydney was a great experience overall, never seen a state that sold so many cars and had so many tree’s planted on the one strip of road. Driving across the Harbour bridge and seeing the Opera house was an experience of its own. Even though the team’s performance wasn’t as good as we had hoped for, the weekend away from Melbourne was great.

(DICEVIP WCG Team)Special thanks go out to the Vol Priv guys who showed us around the city and the Immunity guys for allowing us to use their keyboards.

AINC 2007 NATIONAL FINAL
October 15, 2007

With the AINC National Final only a nights sleep away we take a closer look at the team and the group they’ve been drawn in to.
DICE Team:
George ‘beedee’ Zhu
Andrew ‘bui’ Bui
Winston ‘eck0′ Ho
Justin ‘jing’ Law
Tony ‘tnyvo’ Vo
Group 2:
Merge
Enemy
NoxNoctis
Dice
2i
Merge (WA) and Enemy (QLD) come in to this group as the clear favourites to take out the 2 top spots, but this will not be a push over group. NoxNoctis (NSW) and 2i (VIC) have a very strong will to come out of these group stages on a positive note and have been consistently practicing leading up to this event.
With different styles of plays from each state competing, this will be a tough draw to pick who will come out on top. Watch the team compete for a spot in the final 8 tomorrow 2pm - 7pm AEST.

UPDATE:
Unfortunately the team has been knocked out of group stages after several close matches. Defeating Enemy (QLD) in the opening match it was looking promising for the team. However with a 13-17, 14-16 defeat by the hands of NoxNoctis (NSW) and Merge (WA) the team had no chance of prevailing from the group stages. Overall it was a great effort by the team.
