VA Leg 1

With the two dice teams finishing 4th & 5th, it was a little disappointing results wise. Having said that, we did come into the competition expecting to finish behind v300 and as much as I hate to say it, redux. The surprise of the day was the strong play by Snatch/ZR who derailed both dice A & B from the lower bracket crawl.

Final standings:

1st. v300 - kram, gazr, benor, c0ke, destiny
2nd. redux - rav, fizz, beast, toonz, rize
3rd. ZR - gamz, davestr1zl, coop, tom, funboy
4th. Dice A - z3ak, tnyvo, escuro, spectre, jing
5th. Dice B - andeh, bui, hellraiser, nrd, beedee

Interesting statistics:

- Redux beat both Dice A & B in the upper bracket 16-12
- Dice A beats TF8 into the lower bracket. Dice B beats TF8 in lower bracket [teamwork, highfive!]
- ZR puts an end to Dice A & B’s lower bracket crawl.

Some settings you may find useful for running 1.6 at VA the next time:

- Set windows refresh rate to 75
- Make sure vertical sync is OFF
- Make sure you have “-freq 75″ in launch options
- In game set “fps_max 75″
- Check your rates, there is no match bot to lock your rates to 100/100/25000
- Set ex_interp to 0

Hopefully next time whoever was suppose to open VA actually turns up (Madaajr was there at 8:45am!) and there won’t be so many PC issues. Sympathy goes out to Ai guys and Alex [the VA guy] who did their best to get the comp running. They copped a lot of shit and I’m surprised with all the issues on the day, and the competition running 2-3 hours behind schedule they didn’t call it off.

[Ai]Adam: Unfortunately VA was opened late and we were missing the other Ai admin and VA worker to help setup/fix pc’s. For furture VA events we will be checking all the pc’s the day before and also starting the competition at 11AM just to be safe.

dice-tnyvo: Let’s get it straight about zeak. Rumeboy got him for me because plumey said “I cbf playing” because “I’ve been in the city 4 days straight” after being keen 24 hours earlier. But regardless, I came home from work, advertised on IRC and one replied so I seeked for the best possible option which at the time was out of jw or zeak. I also think it was really well ran and the day was awesome, I had great fun …… is what I would be saying if it was at ZAM. Also jing running around the map without having to press anything is always good to watch.

rX`begly: The comp in terms of how it was run…turned out in the end to be pretty poorly organized on many parts, with the computers not having been checked if they even have steam on it (rofl?), and wayyyy too many problems, kram emo raging at Ai admins was my entertainment for the morning, fizzball was border line suicidal while waiting 2-3 hours for his PC to be TURNED ON rofl. Madaajr leaving early made more problems, lucky corona arrived and humski was nice enough to take over duties it panned out to be well organized once they took over for the remaining games of the day. Only real problem I had was the damn people playing loud music/games during the finals match, and being asked to turn it down and not doing so zzzz! I was disappointed that i didn’t see Dice.a vs Dice.b, especially after the Dice Tag team with tf8.
