iBisQ Pilot Review
May 25, 2008

Let me start by saying having to admin and play at the same time didn’t go down well especially with food poisoning which made all the small admin tasks such as seating become huge headaches. So apologies if it seemed like I didn’t care about your pc issues and let the comp slip out of schedule.
As expected the day didn’t go without faults. The two main problems were fps drops on some pc’s and steam logging everyone out when the internet connection drops - I have to say that the ibisq team did a good job on acting fast and replacing the graphics cards on the affected machines to remedy the fps problem. Even with those two issues and the competition running 1 hour behind schedule from the get go, it only finished half an hour late which I was pretty happy with.
Needless to say whoever runs the next event at ibisq, the setup time for teams will be a lot faster given that most of you are now familiar with their layout/interface and we shouldn’t be running into the fps/steam drop issues.
The kitty pool is now bumped up to $1000. Given that there is only 1 invite left (Snatch secured the Autumn cup invite), each team should receive $500 to help towards flights.
If there is another qualifier, we will try and run another competition to help the 3rd invite team get to the Sydney finals.
Now onto the results side of the pilot comp.
Final Standings:
1st. Stensgaming $400
2nd. Invy $250
3rd. Snatch $150
4th. tNa
5th/6th. hostile/wdil aka vehement
7th/8th. king/sfx
9th/12th. mys/checkpoint/tzu/snk
Notable mentions:
- StensGaming is still undefeated in Melbourne
- Vehement were looking good to place highly after taking down 4th seed King but failed to capitalise on the win against TNA again.
- TNA were sent to the lower bracket by Vehement in the first round on dust2 but took their revenge 16-14 when the two teams met again on dust2 in the lower bracket.
- Invy defeats snatch on inferno twice.
- Hostile upsets the 4th seed King in a close match on train 16-14 and placed as seeded (!!).
- Rumeboy proves that he is not the best player in Melbourne by finishing last.
- TeddyT is good at consistently being bad.
- Jnsie spotted looking for scrims
Big shoutouts to:
- momowang for doing a fantastic job of shoutcasting and help keep tabs of scores
- Callum (ibisq owner) for getting there like 2 hours early to prepare the venue
- shard, beniz, mesty, bee for helping out administering the competition

I think the comp ran fairly well, it was a tiny bit late but thats usual for most lan comps, most of the computers were in good nick besides a few. And i would like to see future comps held there. Although the chairs rubbing against each other is a tiny bit annoying also. King wernt very happy with our results, just need to make up some strats/holds, get our confidence back practice a bit more and we should get back up there.snatch`funboy
The comp ran great aside from a few minor hiccups. We’re happy with our results, invy played great. I look forward to more comps being run there, I enjoyed the different setup and atmosphere that ibisq has going for it.hostile|b[12]
I thought the comp was great, you can’t expect much better than that from a, for all intents and purposes, new netcafe. The pc’s generally ran 100fps, servers were consistent, and their was a good turn out. Huge props to beedee and the ibisq team.I thought we played really well, we prac’d up pretty hard as this was to be our first competition as a new outfit, and it was good to have some nice payoffs. As far as more comp’s at ibisq are concerned, bring them on. IBISQ is fantastic and freidnly competition between zam/ibisq can only be a good thing.
Winners take their loot:
