C4 Internet Cafe

July 14, 2008

I had the opportunity to head down and check out the new C4 Internet Cafe and met with the owners Adam and Jarrod. Due to other commitments I couldn’t sit down and properly test the machines but from what I saw, it will definitely appeal to everyone from gamers to casual net browsers.

The cafe doesn’t look like much on the outside but on the inside it’s a different story. The lights give the cafe a very warm and comfortable feel. The computers were arranged in a way where each row that faced eachother was almost completely sealed due to the custom furniture the new owners have used - very high and well designed (as well as easy access to the back of the PC).

Dota: BoredAussie is installed on all the computers so that’s a big plus for any Melbourne DOTA player looking for an alternative from N2C and Cydus.

Cod4: As far as COD4 goes, I’m not into the scene so I don’t know what would make the cafe attractive to the respective communities however I did catch a glimpse of some people playing it and it ran very smoothly (see video).

Counter Strike: After a chat with the owners, they are currently in the process of implementing most if not all of the popular steam games on their systems. This will of course include CS 1.6 and Source.

PC Specifications:

22″ Viewsonic LCD Monitors (VA2226w 5ms)
Intel C2D E8200 CPU’s
2GB RAM
GeForce 8600GT
Gigabit LAN
Logitech Keyboard and Mouses

Location:

Shop 1, 60 La Trobe Street
Melbourne VIC 3000
T: 9650 4795

Definitely worth checking out, we’ll be back to visit once Steam games come online of course.

looks awesome for casual gaming, not sure how it will be for competitions (only refering to 1.6 of course - for things like dota/cod4/etc comps it could still be sweet :D )

I’ve been to that internet cafe and its good. I came out as a satisfied customer.

As their poster said, they have a “friendly and clean environment” which is what i enjoy most.

Another good thing is that its by far the only internet cafe I’ve been to which have a 22inch LCD monitor.
