The weekend

As competition day creeps up faster and faster, the first day of the tournament was kicking off. After a quiet night in after Friday's festivities, we woke up and were prepared to head to the venue by mid day. This was the first time we came to the doorstep of the famous Taipei 101, and I must say it is very intimidating! It's definitely one of the tallest buildings I've come across!

The venue (the world trade center) for the Taiwan games expo was neighbouring the 101 tower. The venue is accommodating the largest games expo I've ever seen! The whole place is sprawling with people trying to get to their favourite booth in time to see the gogo dancers get loose in a elf uniform or sailor moon short skirt! I must say though that the girls were very impressive!

Before I get distracted into too much detail of the expo I'll rub you through the tournament area.. Intel being the primary sponsor to the tournament hosted a spacious corner of the venue with a cute players area. There was a lot more room to move around there and it wasn't too close to all the booming speakers coming from the centre of the venue.

Spectators aren't allowed in the tournament area but can watch from the side line. So there isn't a cramped feeling which is awesome.. Probably the biggest thing I fear when it comes to holding tournaments in expos is the spacing issues. There isn't a main stage either so I don't know if you'll be seeing us getting fired up irl! What a shame :( anyway we watched group A setup and play their first 2 games, I was intrigued to see how WemadeFox would do after a disappointing weekend in Kazakhstan, and they didn't fail to impress!

For lunch we got told there was a big food court in the 101 basement so we took a stroll around and came across some traditional styled BBQ Chinese. Me, I'm not much of an experimentalist so I went with the classic fried rice haha. After a filling lunch, we came back to the venue and had a chat with Carmac who's organising the tournament and took a couple of team photos.

By that time games were over so we took taxi's back to the apartment and had a big chat about what were going to do tomorrow (Monday) and how. Don't want to get into too much detail, who knows who could be reading this :P anyway after the team chat we all launched an easy feed at McDonald's! Mike and Otis have carc'd it early while miles Gaz and myself are listening to a whole lot of classic fireup songs haha!

Alrighty well I hope you guys are all as excited as we are! Were all hungry for the win!
