Arbalet map winner

1st and 2nd place for the arbalet map contest were found, the winner being de_hell. D/l link is here for those that want to check it out: http://static.hltv.org/de_hell.rar

My personal thoughts is the map is pretty solid (it will still undergo changes over the weeks/months), but i tried every single submitted map and i really think there were a couple of other better choices, or at the very least equally as good and could have been selected and used in a competitive map-pool too. 2nd place was absolute junk and there were half a dozen maps that were 10 times better.

Still pretty good the comp was ran, will be interesting to see if it gets a more prominent position in other tournies in the future.

been inhousing this map with GN a fair bit, I still think it's abit unbalanced and they could easily do a few touch ups to help that. Pretty fun map, but I can't see it going as a core map tbh.

k after runnin round a fair bit with a mate the map is actually pretty good, layout wise i like it and the design is good. Ran some timing on it and with the best T spawn they take mid ramp with awp and the carpet line to long A, and get inside B doors, but cant get into mid con from mid which is good imo. The bad thing is the area size of bombsites and hallways, its got like a cbble/chateau feel when you walk around the areas are just too big imo needs to be scaled down, and theres too many boxes in bombsite b. apart from that once navi and fnatic give there ideas and changes it will be really good

i like it, needs a few tweaks in my opinion

- the current balcony mesh thing is really easy to see on 1024, but nearly impossible on 800 or lower. It should be just a rail like Inferno.

- Few to many boxes in each of the sites

- The "Second Mid doorway" should probably have a door on it, or a breakable vent style.

- A shouldnt be elevated, it should be level, or maybe in a Pit.

- CT spawns are to random, should be closer together (1 is a really good spawn, other is really bad). (2 spawns total)

map is turd. way too big for a war map compared to others. action takes double the time to start compared to d2/inferno/nuke/train. and even longer than tuscan.

has way too much garbage in it to be a true war map. garbage being boxes, random lights and torches and other stuff.

we don't need another CT sided map. just like tuscan, train, inferno and nuke. not to mention the amount of random ditches and side boxes there are.

to make things worse the ditch in A is an open-ditch with no cover, AND there's access to the veranda.

the map isn't flat enough and is basically a chateau version of cbble.

needs to be downsized, needs to have less angle of elevation and be more flat as a map, way less boxes, and needs to get rid of its try-hard eye candy garbage.

will not be a competitive map. tuscan is better. waste of $3000 for first prize winner.

inferno: since when? since most professional teams started sending 1 awper at banana and were able to use 4 players at A for a good number of rounds.

tuscan: since you are oblivious to the fact that it's based on cpl mill you won't understand.

sommi don't agree about quick action.. there can be action in mid in about the same time as it takes for there to be action in mid on ferno?

i guess we'll have to wait and see what they do with the changes.

also i've been reading a lot of criticism about it from european pugs etc. and people are basically saying what i've saying with things like:

the map is way too big and open and CT's can dodge 90% of flashes way too easily (cbble, anyone?).

also i think bombsite A, for CT's has like 4 entry points. and bombsite B has one line to basically watch. 4/1 setups. wierd ass titz

this map is 10-5 minimum T... even without pistol 10 is getable as T, fighting starts within 8 seconds if both T and CT rush to middle or long A / Carpet. Good map just needs to be tweaked

the map-creator actually created this as a pub-randy map a few years ago. he just re-textured it and renamed it to de_hell (because inferno means 'hell' in Portuguese).

p.s. rizleR2g dust2 is the only T map around these days and by saying a map is one-sided we could just look at the number of times that a team wins a coin toss and chooses CT:
90% of the time teams will choose train, nuke, inferno, tuscan as CTs and Ts on dust2

every map thats played now is T yeah, cbble ? dumb map that was taken out of the rotation for being a shit map? LOL d2 the only T map... ? what the fuck.. Id say d2 is the map that becoming more CT out of the 4.. things have changed from the old times, Nuke is a T map, d2 is a T map, Inferno is a T map, id say Train is the only map that has still held a slight CT favour.

Also the 'bakeR' has won 6 nationals here, but dont worry i dont know shit about CS your probly right! heh

dont try and counter my argument in #36 either, ive already gone through every scenario in every map on every bombsite and the maps are designed for T dominance/control

Apart from the spastic maps (that were fun) like Aztec/Cbble/Prodigy, but were taken out for being ridiculously 1 sided.

1:1 frags Terrorist will always win the round (unless your bad)

Wherever the Terrorist go they have number advantage (unless its a 5v5 man rush, very unlikely)

Terrorist control more than half the map safely on dust2, inferno, and nuke.

Once Terrorist take the bombsite they have the advantage if numbers are even, If they have more number advantage the round is basically won.

Thats under half the stuff i can prove to you why the maps are T

Like miles said every map should be "T sided" because of the number advantage - unless there's only 1 bomb site.

I really don't think you can simplify it like that, there are a lot of other factors that come in to play which can give some advantage to the CTs. Such as bombsite layout to create choke point bottlenecks that the Ts have to move through to enter the site; the fact CTs will most likely already know where the Ts will be entering from yet the Ts will not know where the CTs may be positioned.

B on inf and ramps on nuke are examples.

But the T will have equal ammount or more numbers at each of those chokepoints russ, ie : CT's can only afford to put 2 players in ramps 3 max or 2 at B bombsites/3 MAX so therefor they are already at a numbers disadvantage if the T decide to push 4/5 people in 1 area, same works with 1-2 kills in a split, CT force to rotate opening gaps in the map.

T's dont neccesarily know the exact position of the CT's but they have a pretty good idea of the general area there in

only map i really see CT have a good advantage is train because they have awp lines at vines/midcon/ladder/inside before T can

look how many teams win T side nuke in todays game, inferno is usually T but is probly the most balanced, d2 is still T, train has been the only maps that still really CT based atm
