Hey guys, can i get some feedback about IBISQ please? i hear people rave about elysium but what about a melbourne venue, im not a huge fan of mcity as from the pictures i have seen it looks too broken up, i like the big floor with lots of computers thing.

Anywho i was just wondering

Is out of the way, for everyone in Melb MC is the favourite by far.

IBISQ is probably the second best, just that it is out of the way and transport to/from is difficult

Depends what you're talking about using it for. Because for example if you're using it for a big CS comp or whatever, then MidCity is by far the superior lan. The whole having it 'broken up' as you describe it is literally perfect for CS so theres no screencheating/hearing other teams/too much noise etc.

The general layout of MC though is one massive room pretty much identical to ibisq with roughly 50 pcs give/take, but then on top of that it has like ~4-5 additional rooms with 5-10 pcs per room, so u can split up the majority of teams if you want it yet still have the big room atmosphere.

The PC's, desks, location, environment, and pretty much everything about MC is better than ibisq, but as dragon said the only one that really matters is the location. If they were both next door to each other in the city either venue would probably be fine (MC still a tad better though, but again thats in regards to CS)

I thought iBISQ was great back at the kode5 nats. Good PC's, plenty of desk space. Quite certain those guys did a massive overhaul and upgraded everything especially for KODE5, then never got used again LOL.

The only downside is perhaps the blue light coming through the fiberglass panels in the roof. (If I was to nit pick)

well when an equivalent (or close to) ibisq opens in a better/neutral location its only logical to play comps there instead of ibisq

ahhhh liam.. good bloke

mid city. EAAAASILY..

ibisq is pretty much all about looks.

mid city has plenty of desk space. probably better computer. better screens. better ventalation. LIGHT. and carpet, so i dont accidentally roll back on my chair. teddyt knows what im talkin about. he can barely reach the ground. and what i mean by that is, ibisq has concrete floors, so youre pretty much rolling left, right, back, forward :D did i mention hot and poor ventalation? :D

every LAN is a pet shop mate you'll be right with no ventilation

I prefer IBISQ to MC however I'd just go with MC simply due to the location anyway.

Also rumeboy wow that's really slack bro

ibisq is good apart from the fact if you live on the other side of the city it takes over an hour + 3 tolls to get there (by car) and train is just even more annoying as it doesn't go straight there. Midcity is 100% the best LAN venue you can get in melb if you think its 'broken' you're a faggot :D

edit: also the chairs are way to close together which makes it impossible for people to specate.

cheers guys, by broken up i mean separated rooms where i like the open room as it has a bit more atmosphere when you have 4 matches going at once.

that makes it worse, way too much noise makes it harder to communicate and hear footsteps. I always prefer to be in those booth rooms :P

Also talnoy forgot to mention, midcity's new 2nd store is probs better than either mc/ibisq, but the pcs are in rows of 4 not 5, so if it was for a casual thing or 1v1/2v2/4v4 etc it'd be great, if for 5v5 u'd have to book additional pcs and seat people in a 2/3 back-to-back similar to how 2 of the rooms are in the 1st midcity (its never been a problem like that in the 1st midcity infact alot of teams prefer those rooms).

And like #17 said, for a cs comp its really not ideal to have 1 single big open room, it makes the comp way worse. Midcity is the perfect mix as it has the open room for atmosphere, but it has additional smaller rooms too for benefit of the players.

Open area is better for spectators, Rooms are better for those playing.

Noobie
roughly 45 A'Beckett street near RMIT uni

although the layout isnt as 5v5 friendly as the first MC it has aircon
dunno if the first one got around to gettin good aircon

edit: agree with #19 and #21 but thats just me =)
