Anyone else getting like 150 ping every single night from like 8-12? (ADSL 2). Could just be Melbourne, str0zl and I are having the same problems. Been happening for about 2 months i think.

Will probably change providers soon, the idiots @ TPG are convinced it's our end (they keep suggesting to get a shorter cable etc).

Thinking of getting a Telstra Liberty cable plan, anyone know if it's any good?

Yeah I'm having exactly the same problem. Some servers reach 100 ping at night while they're usually < 50 ping during the morning and afternoon. Not a happy customer :@.

Pretty much the same deal here in qld. They blame a 3rd party carrier fault. Having 500ping to everything but GA #5 and ipgn servers is driving me mad.

it's a budget connection, ideally meant for checking email and web-browsing. Sometimes i can pay off, other times can be dog shit.

im on Bigpond Cable, speedtest varies between 15mbit and 30mbit, but even at 15mbit it's still quicker than my old adsl2

when i had optus cable i had no problems (5+ years), only their plans were too small which is no longer an issue

optus also have better routing

Check if your internet exchange is capped/pretty full. Too many people from your exchange are probs on the net during those times. I've had the same problem for 6+ months and its just a capped exchange = shit

i didnt think Internode offered ADSL1+ anymore, just scaled down ADSL2+.

And secondly i also thought ADSL1+ was capped at 8mbit in AUS, and 12mbit in the USA.

very interesting indeed.

also #5 i think that's probably a completely different problem. reading whirlpool forums and it only appears to be people from melbourne getting the same issues.

iiNet has the best net in aus. Been with em for like 10 years now and yeah have only had a handful of laggy nights in a decade. Also knyz thinks I'm online so this probably contributes to it.
