Just wondering if someone can link me to the section about finals.

Usually it's Head2Head when two teams tie, but for some reason i thought CG might be Rounds For/Against

can anyone confirm or link

It's Head to head, in the case of 3 or more teams being in a tie, it goes to rounds won minus rounds lost. Example of rounds being instituted can be seen in CGa this season

its actually not h2h, afaik all cg comps have been rounds won/loss, but hey we have to reschedule match for the 3rd time, so i guess rules dont mean alot anyway!
Archaic.NZ vs v300 1st rnd should be intense!

We had an admin discussion, each admin was present and Talnoy confirmed.

It is the way I explained, sorry for your confusion but this is the way it should be run, believe it or not

Theres nothing in the rules regarding what the process would be in case of a tie (probs an oversight that will be fixed in the next season if there is one). All the admins discussed and agreed that head to head is the most suitable and sensible method and i think you would agree that its the 'right' way to do it for CS 1.6 regardless of what other game's cg leagues have done in the past.

it is no way the 'right' way to do it for a league.. for a standard group stage yes, but in any professional league sports or gaming, that is pretty rare. Regardless only upset because when we asked last week we were told it was rounds, then they went back and changed it now. Anyway its all irrelevant now! Gl to finalists, Archaic vs Archaic finals IMO!

All the league is is a groupstage ran over 8 weeks though, i dont really see the difference.

When rounds arent played out (and even when they are) they should ALWAYS be used as an absolute last resort in determining who progresses out of tied teams. Head to head, where possible (ie. with 2 tied teams), is the 'right' and fairest way of doing it.

yea each to their own opinion! but the more teams involved, the less sense a h2h decision makes. Especially for a team that may have had to forfeit throughout the season, they're gonna get punished and not make finals due to that?(if it comes to a h2h between them and the team they forfeited against) They shouldn't.. they should be punished with the 16-0 scoreline for the rounds.. all opinion though! And i am really only going off the CG-CSS league i played in

If it were a WCG nationals with 2 8-team groups though u'd still do head to head, how many teams becomes too many for it to be ineffective? I would argue it wouldnt make a difference, as rounds are still an incredibly innacurate method of determing who's the better team - especially when they're not played out, but even if they are.

Using rounds doesnt take into account things like what side you start on what map (ie T on train), what level of opposition you play on what map (ie vs noobs on d2 compared to vsing noobs on train starting as CT), accurate results when forfeits come into play, and a whole range of other things. Its very imbalanced which is why they should only be used as a last resort (which if it were a 3-way tie, they would have been)

Head to head, however, doesnt rely on any of those things and its simply who wins out of the 2 teams. And if a team had to forfeit then its really their own fault/problem, and it makes even less sense to use rounds when 16-0 forfeit wins are awarded.

If other games (CSS etc) want to do it differently thats fine by them, but all the admins felt it wasnt the right way to do it for CS1.6
