i was expecting more like 5 teams to show up :P but oh well i guess no one wants to go to EB Expo or possibly Korea at the end of the year :P
Anyway ... there has been heaps of questions regarding sydney prizes etc ... below is a quote from other posts i put up last night on other sites... figured it would benefit you all.
"We understand the frustration currently going around about the delay in providing product prizes and we are working to resolve this, we are waiting for final product lists to be provided from some of our sponsors, to ensure the best allocation of prizes is achieved.
Anyone who was promised a prize wether it was a product prize, accomodation and flights or cash will recieve it, it has been promised and committed to on several occasions in fact anyone who won a cash prize and have provided their bank details to the tls team have been paid"
If you have any questions i'm more than happy to hand out my mobile number you can call or txt ... or email msn me :D

how can you expect anything when this is the most poorly run event I've ever seen? I didn't even know melb had a qual until a few days ago, and to give only 1 spot to melbourne when the best team in Australia is qualiing in melbourne is even more retarded. Really need to learn how to run a comp.. have CSS, 1.6, CoD4 and LoL all at the 1 venue in the same day. Can only imagine how unorganised its going to be every team rocking up on the day with no registrations prior to the comp.

Teddyt
I'm aware its not the most organised comp you've ever seen, given that the venues only got confirmed just over a week ago, i think its coming along pretty well.
But yeah with all the comps running from the single venue with only 60 computers is going to be a challenge, however we will have to do what we can to make it work.
i'm looking to make these tournaments better in future, and we are trying to learn from our mistakes made.
If you have some ideas of how we can run it better i'm more than happy to consider them

You need to get in contact with GoMeZ and co like they've been trying to get contact with you guys. They are the people who have been running the 1.6 side of things for years and you should give them abit more freedom to help you. Its only going to benefit you because they know the CS community better.. For example whoever said how many spots each state is getting had no idea. Sydney getting the most spots was the first mistake you guys made. Not saying this because it affects me because I'm not even attending the melbourne qual, but having immunity (like I said the #1 team in australia) you will be lucky to have 3 teams attending the comp because you already know whos getting that _ONE_ spot at nationals

Will Hughes says http://www.dicevip.com/user/SGL-rOcKy I'm assuming this isn't actually you? r0cKy says yes its actually me which is funny that everyone still thinks i'm Dreamer lols It's not dreamr... Will Hughes says as for the format on the day, when should the teams that show up expect to play? r0cKy says first match will start no later than 11am Will Hughes says and it will run as double elimination or single elimination brackets? r0cKy says that will depend on the amount of teams i only have on day to run it so if i get 20 teams its single elim if i get 4 teams it will be round robin if i get 6 or 8 it will be double Will Hughes says okay, and how many teams from all the games do you expect there to be at MC#1? r0cKy says i'm hoping for 4 teams in cs1.6 - 4-6 teams in css - 4-6 cod4 teams and 5 or 6 LoL teams

How many teams are there going to be at nats then? 6? 1 melb, 1 qld, 4 syd? This is extremely weird.. how come they arent offering more spots for teams who wish to pay their own flights + accommodation or something like that? its been done for years and has worked pretty well.

They didnt want to have additional spots for teams paying their own way because they dont want the responsibility of dealing with it plus they have a limited schedule and floorspace at the nats so they have to keep it small . (is what was told to me when casualty was running things anyway)

Okay so just a warning, long post, lots of rambling, sorry if I repeated myself anywhere or if it doesn't make sense. All of this is what I've been thinking about the last couple of days, NOTHING IS CONFIRMED, it's all just planning in hope of what could happen. Feel free to ask any questions or add suggestions...
In my chat with r0cky last night I did my best to get the qualifiers in our hands. He's off asking the big boss and hopefully I'll have a reponse soon (I was told by the end of the week). If this does end up happening we will need to organise pretty quickly, as currently r0cky's been told that he only had 2 weeks or so to get all the quals out of the way... He's trying to extend this but who knows.
The EB expo is in mid October, so if we do get control of the quals we have probably a 4 week timeframe from today to get them over and done with, this is the best case scenario... :/ It's at least better than what we have now.
This is all still "fingers crossed business" of course, I have no idea what answer I'm going to get back. r0cky is completely happy for us to do it and would prefer it, it's just the people above him that are causing the problems.
If we don't end up getting anything our way then the setup will be something like this I imagine.
Will Hughes says So how many teams will be at the national event from 1.6, assuming all the qualify spots fill?
r0cKy says i'm hoping for 8 in total cuase i have a short timeframe to get the nationals completed in
Will Hughes says and how would those 8 invites be divided r0cKy says so the split so far is top 2 from each qual
Will Hughes says so that's 2 quals from SA?
r0cKy says so the quals were meant to be NSW / VIC / QLD / SA
r0cKy says but by the looks of it they will be NSW / VIC / QLD / NSW
This is a little confusing since no ones actually mentioned it previously... So for this Melb qual, if you actually want to try and go to EB expo, it's best to show up as it looks like there will be 2 spots. This could however, be a waste of money/time if we do run our own qualifiers as I don't see how we could let the 2nd qual spot just go to whoever can be bothered showing up on Saturday...
If we get control however, I'm not sure how we would work around the already qual'd teams who qualified at an event like this with no competition... (The Sydney teams would already go through because their qual wasn't a flop). If it were me, I would give Immunity the invite since obviously they deserve to be at nationals and leave the 2nd qual spot for the community run quals. It may come back that 1.6 doesn't actually end up playing at this qual if a response comes back soon enough...
Lastly, it's not confirmed exactly how many teams we will end up having at the nationals or just how the set up will be. r0cky's asked me to put this in:
'We are still working out the best way to delivery the nationals in october in conjunction with the eb expo'

Give iM auto invite and cancel the comp, then run another comp in 2 weeks? and you will get a decent turnout.
