"only the US teams for League of Legends and Crossfire will be receiving an all expenses paid trip to the finals"

The good news & confidence boosts just keep coming for WCG this year... :(

As much as it pains me, it makes sense.

CS is over 10 years old, its naive to think anyone even remotely interested in CS, still has it installed and understands how to connect to a HLTV (and where that information can be found). And then watch the match in total silence without anyone telling you what's happening.

Compared to LOL and SC2, which can easily get 30k spectators, where as CS would be lucky to get 1000 in USA. Stream is soo much more convenient. And requires less involvement from the User.

Which in the end, is all the sponsors really care about, (How many people will view, what sort of reach will out company / products get).

before CGS there was a struggle for even the top 4 teams in USA at a point, 3D, coL, eMazing Gaming, the leftovers like dRew/her0/NineSpot. There was good competition between those 4, after coL/3D ruled forever then CGS came and combined those 2 teams, after that USA has been toast, EG were the only team in the whole country that did anything

#9 it got cut because riot gaming majorly help (creators of LoL) fund every single major LoL tournament there is (yes even wcg). SC2 has a bigger sponsor base and professional team base that can send/fly their players at a whim. It's rumoured HuK from EG is earning ~300k a year. o_O
