It really comes down to what "they" want out of it.
It's either a cheap cost-effective way to test their cross-platform play, with a game people will buy solely based on the name.
OR
They actually want this to be a 'long time best seller' and keep developers on it. They have already announced a "competitive mode" so if that somehow resembles CS, then it might be ok

They already tested their cross-platform play with portal 2 didnt they?
The direction they seem to be going (separate casual/competitive game modes, inviting pro players for their feedback, taking competitive gaming seriously with dota2, etc) are all things they've never done before and are all good signs.
Hope for the best / plan for the worst i suppose. Either way with this coming out, international cs1.6 cant last much longer (not that it couldnt last much more than a few years even if it wasnt coming out), so its pretty much CSGO or nothing really.

Game will be pretty good I think, from what's been shown so far it looks to be adopting a bit more of a Call Of Duty feel, but it seems Valve are actually interested in making a game people want to play this time, after the massive fail that was CS:Source

Aside from the weapon-handling changes, another key mechanic of Counter-Strike has been changed, which was the removal of the defuse kit from the buy menu, as the old wire-plier is no longer purchasable. In the feedback session with the CS:S players in August, Valve gave the players a test version where the CT's would only have one defuse kit for the whole team, but after the negative feedback this has been changed, as now two random Counter-Terrorists will spawn with the kit and they will be easily identified with a plier icon on the scoreboard.
its going to be 100X harder to clutch now, having to find ur teammates kits. hope they change this.
but dont think this game will be played competitively.

That's a stupid idea only 2 people being able to have kits.

Valve have also said in an interview that in hindsight they didn't like the fact that experienced/skilled CS players found it hard to tell them apart from just average players in CSS and that they want to bring back nuances in the game that helps good players express skill.

#17 that worried me too i dno what they're thinking, if they're gonna listen to pro players advice atleast listen to it properly. Hopefully shit like that is just for casual mode and for competitive kits can still be bought.
No de_train for launch is pretty bad too (although they wanted to make it a single bombsite map so its probably for the best). I wish they put in the main 4 maps + tuscan and left them as is, then did whatever they want to the random maps like aztec/dust1/etc

seems to be a pretty tame approach to the series and feels more like a long coming cash in into the console market then a genuine redesign/improvement of the game.
drip feeding beta invites is pretty lame, the open access of bf3 has been a huge success and i would that thought cs would have learnt that lesson from ... itself.
not sure how they arent going to compromise the pc experience by catering the aiming and recoil to the console audience either
time will tell i suppose... wish it well but i can't identify any stand out feature that makes me believe they've put much effort into it
fairly cynical i suppose looking at the "pedigree" of the series, 1.6->cz->css isnt really a positive trend from a competitive gaming perspective
