With CS:GO around the corner and it promising to bring together cs 1.6 and cs source communities a few people, including myself, who haven't played either versions in a long long time are starting to develop and interest in the upcoming game. I played cs for many years, back in the day, and am wondering what kind of cs communities are around atm? Are the days of IRC gone? If so, how do people communicate atm (primarily interested in 1.6 communities). I'm assuming cs has been pretty dead for the last few years?

Get another 4 join #scrim pm for scrims i know my team(ttrm) are on most nights looking for scrims against anyone.. iPGN is just stupid

if you can get 5, you can war most nights, but it's only against medium-high level teams (about 10 teams in total, not all at once though). And that's only between 7-12 week nights.
if not IPGN is the only alternative. 2 or 3 of these go pretty much all day / all night (even like 3am)
CSS still has about 300 active teams, but the game is inferior.
CS:GO is multi-platform, (xbox ps2 pc) So there should be plenty of people playing all the time once it comes out.
CS:GO starts beta this week (i think) but im not sure if there is any oceanic servers planned.

yea, rifle and i did the 'wow' thing, got bored of that and tbh games are a pretty good way to keep in contact with mates you don't get much of a chance to see irl so we're hoping cs:go will create some kind of a resemblance to the cs days of old.

Ah, collateral, they were fun days.
I will give CS:GO a crack, but whether or not the same kind of community forms, we'll have to wait and see.

yer i could see that being true bish. playing within a small group and being half good probably makes them the best and most people get giant heads when this happens and makes em pretty fuckin unpleasant to be around.
ah well, good to see a few good peeps from days of old still around. I'll try hang out on irc gamesurge, ipgn-comp's for a while get a feel for things, who knows, possibly embarrass myself in a war or two aswell

I was only around for the Steel cheating for $500 worth of gaming gear for a 3rd time and DestiNy being carried to a Australian championship. Think everyone gave up after that. god i miss cflow & realitycheck banter.
