Just wondering if there will be any type of online comp coming up at least? Where did CG go? i know they didnt get enough teams but they sure enough didn't put themselves out there and im sure plenty of teams would join up.
Just a suggestion, remake cg pleaseeeeeee.
So sick of looking for scrims through GA32

how can CG put themselves out there more? They advertised here, which is the only australian 1.6 website left.

Alot of the 1.6 community have transferred over to TS12. Pretty competitive.

that is true, but a lot of 'good' or 'decent' players rarely go on here motion, nor do i remember seeing a post on here.. there probably was.. but this just backs up my point that stuff on this site just goes in one ear and out the other.. Mayber advertisement through IRC and IPGN shit.. Or through vent.
Looks like its dead now that EAC is down anyways

ipgn is just a cesspool of wallhackers and people are just quitting off every day, aus cs is completely dead

what games are worth playing with a big community atm (excluding wow/sc2/dota)?

#11 The new tribes is gaining a bit of traction. Once it comes out of beta it'll be pretty competitive. Free to play as well, its sort of got a LoL-ish front end. Spend cash on little character perks and shit like that.

I been playing lots of single player games

Skyrim (it actually sucks and is hideously overrated)
Worms Crazy Golf
Dwarfs?!
Bastion
Limbo
Trine 2 MP ft. Douggie
Hoard
Frozen Synapse
Sonic Generations

Yet nothing can fill the gap left by cs *sobs*

They don't make good multiplayer games anymore

cs remains really popular on steam, usually #1 for most active players/day according to the stats excluding the current skyrim bubble.

i guess we killed it in aus through all the cheating, bickering and average community leadership.

on the rare occassion you get a game without anyone cheating its still a fantastic game... shame

-edit: tribes ascend looks fantastic, i played starsiege tribes before cs and it was an excellent game, really fast paced, small fast moving models so you needed to have good aim and a lot of complex teamplay/set pieces to cap the flag. tribes 2 onwards they did dumb the series down a bit but heres hoping tribes ascend comes out strong

this trailer looks good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayaBHJeEpbw

I would seriously buy a PS3 just to play Demon's Souls & Dark Souls (which is a 'spiritual successor' to Demon's Souls but released multi-platform)

Dark Souls alone will give you like 100 hours. its one of the most thrilling games ever! and you get a sense of accomplishment playing those souls games

no other game will ever come close in terms of difficulty

just played tribes beta, initial impression is the gameplay is very good.

it does have a class, skill AND perk unlock system. It seems skills are unlocked experience based, classes are microtransactions (essentially you need to 'buy the game' to get the full thing) and perks not sure, doesnt seem to be implemented yet. i did find the exp based unlocks very easy to obtain, which is good.

time will tell, ideally like any f2p/microtransaction game enough of the game will be free and enjoyable to allow people to get their feet wet and then spend $20 to unlock all the classes, rather then the microtransaction creating a huge gap in skill/performance/items between those who have or haven't spent ingame money which would kill game balance for a competitive match

I think CS in Aus has died in multiple stages.

The best period imo in Aus cs was from 2000-2003, then a fair few of the oldshcool players left the community. 04/05/06 was still fun but there were less lan teams (at least in brisbane anyway).

After 06 though, instead of worrying about registering for a comp before it filled, it was more like hoping enough teams registered for the comp to still go ahead.

All that being said, CS is still the one and only game that actually gives me a real adrenaline rush while playing, and I think that's the same for a lot of people. Unfortunately for me the community isn't worth the time to be a part of, and hasn't been since 06. Thus, I troll.

I agree with the b4r, ohwell i just wanted to atleast 'try'. This so called 'last lan event ever' doesnt look like it is happening and sure everyone will probably comment something like "it is" or "ive heard people are in talking of a new nationals" but i dont see it happening which is very sad. I reckon i put down a list of teams who would probably play the 'last ever nats' and the list may get up to 20-22 teams which tbh would be a very fun/enjoyable comp.

But who am i to say, i am like everyone else. Has no idea where to begin nor would i want to put effort in to this community.

IPGN killed CS

honestly just move to another game, nothing feels as pleasing as 1.6 but if you still have that competitive drive switching to Source or even CoD4 isn't hard whatsoever for a 1.6 player

It's quite funny, if you watch the merlock cpl scrapbook movie (I think it was from 2002), almost none of those players were playing anymore after 2003. Although I guess it was mostly QLDers in that movie anyway

Online was ruined by faggots thinking they were funny by toggling, and the stigma of cheating being removed

corruption runs rampant through the ipgn admin ranks...right up to the top dog.

sad to admit but the game is competitively dead in Aus

IMO the peak of competition was 2003-2006

cs is only completely dead on a competitive level. There is still a large player base but most people just want to prove how good they are individually so they play stat based games like ipgn/cs-comp.

If just half the players from these comps formed teams with people they probably already regularly play with, they would develop so much better/quicker and there would be much less rage since your playing with friends as opposed to randoms.

We look for scrims everyday and the most we can find is 1-2, which leads us to playing inhouse which is still 10x better than any 'pug' since people actually try to play like a team.
