all other states are doing the standard seperate quals
1. we are playing for invites only, not Autos + Invites, so the team that comes second will 100% accept the invite. Therefore by the time the third qual comes around, the top 4 will have already secured their places, meaning we are 4 teams less than the first qual.
So based on that, if we get the standard 8 team turnout which we expect, the turnout would look something like this, 8teams 6teams 4teams, essentially losing 6 lots of rego OR $900.
Now with that mind, think of elysium, a netcafe that is at least 10 times better than midcity. They command a fee much higher. In order to make that fee for the Saturday and Sunday National, we need a better turnout than 8-6-4.
I hope by forcing this format, we can get 8-8-8 which is enough to pay the hire, and provide a decent prize.
That is the main reason. there is also a few side reasons
2. Should promote team stability in QLD (something we lack)
3. The team that wins the first qualifier (in 6 days time) will not be banished from QLD lan events until Nationals, since its point system, all teams should be relatively LAN sharp for nationals.
Sponny on the other hand chooses to play with 2 interstate players, which is fine, but unable to assist in the qualifying process. So that leaves him with 3 players, 2 of which are in Hong Kong and will miss the 1st qual, and Sponny himself missing the 3rd due to his own holiday plans.
So instead of him accepting he misfortune, he decides to go on a crusade against this format claiming it's bad for grass roots CS and how its totally unfair to the under-dog, when really he is doing a terrible job of hiding his own personal motives.
subtle ;)
maybe he can be Chuck Norris, and i'll be Sylvester Stalone
:(
makes life a lot easier imo ;)
90bucks for rego + 30bux for food, so settin u bak 120bucks, and plus its double elim, so could be 15 bucks for a lan game if u lose both 2, pretty much donating to the team who wins the autoberth.
But whatever, if you dont want to play dont play, no one is forcing you to, but it really is quite shit the attitude the community has as of late :(
chuck norris not making an appearance?
I dunno just seems like the QLD way would work well everywhere
The only way cs comps could change to suit this 'new attitude' of the community is to run round-robin comps with $5 rego, and unfortunately this just isnt feesable for comps in general, let alone national qualifiers where money needs to be made for more than just lan hire costs.
We're expecting roughly 10-12 teams, which i dont think is too unreasonable? I'm sure if 16 teams actually signed up the rego could easily be lowered. (thats an assumption so dont take my word for it, i dont see why not though)
barely/if not just engouh for the autobirth
so with 10 teams = 1.5k
so 800 bucks for autobirth first qual
second qual there would only be like 6 teams im assuming, so 900 dollars, so only 200 dolars to autobirth, that is probaly not even running if that low teams are coming, but we'll see how keen people are!
Now that you've done the math, do you realise why it costs as much as it does? There is literally no other option but to charge as much as we do (in comps in america etc, regular rego for comps is ~$40-50 per player). This is been going on for years so i dont see why its an issue now.
Also the autoberth money is split evenly between the 2 autoberth teams from total money, not that thats really relevant just letting you know.
CS would drop off far quicker than it already is if theres no incentive (other than just 'playing) to keep teams keen.
there it is boys, finally regoed
any other teams gona FORK out 30 bucks and play lol. you could have prob played if you started saving last week dreamr spewing

P.S: I've already got your team booked. If your team rushes B, I know your either going to be in mid waiting for some easy frags or in A
i dont play enough to give a fuck what u say about the way i play lol. your the shittest person Ive seen play the game and your constant cock sucking of players better than you makes me sick. go jerk off you homo maybe you should dress up as your self next lan would be even funnier. faggot lol.
edit: sign up then Bossman!
they should win
no offence
Yeah online.
jk i love you ;)
But yeh we'll see how many teams there are closer to the date and keep people updated.
(the fact that i'm now also terrible may play its part, but CS is about the fun IMO)
so if it remains at 8 teams, its gonna be a min 7games + chance @ bo3 - to much cs IMO
well worth ur money tho ;)
Top 2 go through
A1 plays B2 in a bo3
A2 plays B1 in a bo3
Winners play Bo3 Grand Final
Gives break for people, lets people watch games.
The other option is to do the finals in the format you suggested as 4-team double elim bo1, as opposed to 4-team single elim bo3.
Imo round-robin is the best choice though, it offers more scrims, more accurately places the teams, and there will be more than enough time to have a 30-45 min lunch break after the 3rd game or so to break it up!
If its anything else ill have to wait and see how many teams it is of course!
keen for round robin
