MC Internet Sneak Peek
 Author :

DICEVIP were invited to take an exclusive look at MC Internet before their grand opening next week. Although MC Internet's doors will be open to the public as of midday tomorrow, it will be used for testing purposes and therefor FREE to anyone who wants to come try it out for tomorrow only. If you'd like to come in on the weekend its only $2 and you can play for the entire day!

Our local counter-strike handyman davestr1zl was first on the scene.

The cafe itself resembles N2C somewhat from the floorplan it employs, however distinguishes itself by having 3 seperate "Private Booths" dedicated for gaming teams. When we spoke to the owner, Suka, he assured us teams or group bookings "will take priority in these rooms" over public use, as he understands the nature of competitive gaming. This, afterall, is his second cafe - the first being the premier Internet Cafe in New Zealand, MidCity, whom sponsor Parallax.

Two of the three private rooms have five PC's each, while the third has 10 PC's.

The common area is host to another 40 PC's partitioned in 8, 5 & 2 PC blocks.

For those wondering about CS competitions, there are a total of 8 rows with 5+ PC's, which means 4 games can be played at once. This doesn't even include tashe 2 "clan rooms" at the back which feature a 3-2 setup. The desk-space for each PC is equivalent to that of ZAM, and as shown in the pictures below can comfortably fit their keyboards and a QCK Heavy mousepad per PC.

The following are the PC Specs for the 60 computers:

50 Main PC Specs

10 Clan-Room PC Specs

22" Samsung T220 (4:3 OK!) - best LCD ever :D
Intel C2D E7400 (2.8ghz)
4GB DDR RAM
9800GT
Windows XP
Logitech MX518 mouse
H1 Rantopad mousepad (suprisingly smooth!)
Anypro keyboard (multiple keys OK!)
Connected to 10mbit FibreOptic Internet

These 2 private 'booths' feature even better computers with awesome high-end specs, so come in and check them out to seet just how well they perform!

What sets this cafe apart:

Private booths for teams
Very Powerful PC's
Asian community friendly [PC language/tools]
Open 24x7

When we were discussing the role this cafe would play in the competative gaming environment, he let loose that they are indeed seeking to sponsor teams from Counter-Strike 1.6, Source, DOTA & possibly more.

MC Internet will also be host to free competitions in the above games come April that include cash prizes! That's right, play free, win prizes!

Remember:

  • Come in tomorow (Friday, 13th March) for FREE lan, from midday till late!

#24 played there today from like 4pm-11pm, for the first hour or so the net was really terrible and lagging alot, but they did everything they could to fix it and after that it was fine all night and didnt lag once and was really good.

they were even kind enough to give us all 3 free hours each and a hand written apology for the inconvenience of the first hour or so LOL!

nicest staff ever
