Anything Interactive recently announced the details and information regarding the return of the infamous Anything Interactive National Cup (AINC) for 2009.
AINC has been one of the largest national tournaments for the past 2 years, combining both Counter-Strike 1.6 and CS:Source together to form one mammoth event, with several thousands of dollars worth of prizes up for grabs in the form of both cash and gaming gear. This year will be no different as we see the return of the event to Melbourne yet again, this time being held at the recently opened MC Internet, conveniently located in the Melbourne CBD. (Check out our preview of MC Internet).
Exact details of the event have so far been slim, but it was announced that each game (1.6 and CSS) would feature a massive 20-team National event, totalling to 40 of the best teams from all around Australia, and possibly New Zealand, competing for what will presumably be a substantial prize pool.

With the CSS qualifiers already completed for all states, Anything Interactive stated that the 1.6 qualifiers will be announced shortly within the next two weeks, along with the launch of the AINC 2009 website.
Initially announced as a 2-day event, it was questioned how the Ai team would manage to run the required number of games needed to keep a suitably fun, competitive, and fair tournament format (a massive 114 to 128 games total would need to have been played), while keeping the event in a reasonable daily time-frame. This was cleared up quickly, however, as the event will now run over 3 days - Friday the 3rd, Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th of July 2009.
Stay tuned as we keep you updated on any further information as it comes!
