WCG 2010 groups released
 Author :

Groups for this year's WCG have been revealed and following tradition, Australia have been drawn into the hardest possible group.

Coming off their MSI Beat It campaign, Australia Immunity will now have to prepare for a rematch against Sweden Lions who defeated them 16-3 as well as a possible rematch with USA EG, the eventual winners of MSI Beat It, who also defeated Australia Immunity, but with a much more respectable 16-10 scoreline.

It may however may prove advantageous having these teams in their group as Australia Immunity will have first hand experience in playing them, and teams have tendencies to underestimate opponents they've defeated in the past.

USA - EG?
France - BURNING?
2.

EG will be using tubby as 5th so they're not a gauranteed win as loaded/POV(ex-col) will have a chance, and france would either be Burning/Millenium without a doubt
3.
 07/09/10 07:48pm
More than likely, though they are yet to hold qualifiers in those 2 nations
4.
 07/09/10 08:05pm
ABHHAH SHIT SON, france will be BURNING more then likely. and USA is EG.
possibly one of the toughest groups ive seen. EG are in form, even without lurpiss they have 2 animal fraggers in n0thing and fr0d. and the same with burning! SIXER and MAJ3R tear the best teams in the world apart.

Most likely EG and Burning

EG won the MSI Beat IT, and iM werent that far off (and it was train, which EG said was their second best map) (and they were definitely not playing 100%, factor in lurppis and this could be closer than people think

Lol thats a bit harsh how can both 1st seeds from France and USA and the 2nd seed from sweden(would of prob been either SK or fnatic had fnatic not pulled out) be equal to Australia's team.
11.
 07/09/10 10:06pm
its randomly drawn i believe

Pretty stupid to have a random draw. It's also stupid to not have Parallax in the draw to begin with... what dat?

If it is completely random, all the other groups worked out pretty damn well (All the big names in different groups really). RIGGED.

#12 WCG has always done a random draw, and for the majority of groups its always worked out that the top teams are evenly spread, but theres ALWAYS 1-2 groups that are stacked. But yes, a random draw is incredibly stupid.

Its not without hope with a good boot camp etc we can still beat EG/French team on a good day. Lions will be harder and will need 2 adapt our game, but still looking forward to it ^^.

"WCG Committee will select 2 ~ 8 competitive players (or team) per game, based on their reputations and previous records, will be given a special seeding"

"Group Drawing for each game title will be conducted by following order.

a. Announcement of seeded players (or teams)
b. Group Drawing for non-seeded players (or teams)
c. Group Drawing for seeded players (or teams)"

The seeded teams were:
mTw
wCrea
WeMade Fox
FragExecutors
Forze
Lions
SK-Gaming
Natus`Vincere

Draw (With seedings) done before USA and French quals were played... lets just hope some rubbish teams fluke a qual win.

I think immunity should take this chance to root as many european birds as possible. Dont waste the holiday.
21.
 08/09/10 09:31am
lions > iM (respectable score) lets say 16-12
France < iM 9-16
EG < iM 14-16

EG > lions 16-9
EG > france 16-6
EG < iM 14-16

lions > iM 16-12
lions > france 16-8
lions < EG 9-16

LETS say that we beat EG and France would we have a chance to come second?? because of the point system?
22.
 08/09/10 09:45am
That's a good question, where is New Zealand?
23.
 08/09/10 10:20am
Cobbie, as much as I'd love to hug you on a Sunday morning, that French team is pretty 2g and I am predicting 16-5's all the way through.
24.
 08/09/10 11:26am
Tough group imo but fingers crossed they have learned from mistakes in the beat it comp and miles and PJ can frag at some point this comp.

what's going on with px???? (apart from being rattled apart atm!)
27.
 08/09/10 02:08pm
as i was saying to Dave last night, last year there was 5 groups of 5 and 3 of 4, so im assuming most of the draw hasn't been completed yet. I would be shocked if there isn't another team in the Australian group. Fingers crossed for NZ? would like to see how they would do in direct competition to the Aussies.
28.
 08/09/10 04:22pm
#20 on the money lol. gl im
29.
 08/09/10 06:07pm
reminiscence of KODE5 and ESWC masters for iM last year... pretty fucking disgusting considering were probably the only country that forks out over $8,000 to attend these events and 'somehow' we end up in the groups of death every time. Nevertheless keep your heads up lads! Good luck for the games and prac hard!
30.
 08/09/10 08:21pm
if we did manage to ninja 2nd place in the group, we'd play the winner of group b...Na`Vi :D
31.
 08/09/10 08:40pm
big IF
32.
 08/09/10 08:46pm
#30 dont they play a second group stage?????

Nah sp0nd0g, top 2 of each group to a 16 team single elim.
34.
 08/09/10 11:49pm
#27 im pretty sure there wont be any groups with 5 teams, as the draw only specifies 3 rounds of map rotation. I would imagine px are being put in one of the 3-team groups, no idea why they werent included originally though probs just a mistake.
35.
 09/09/10 12:31pm
yeah bra. after group stages its

best of 3. single elim.

http://www.hltv.org/news/5232-greece-miss-wcg-2010

This leaves Group B for WCG 2010 with just two teams and with two teams advancing from each group, it is likely that one team from the groups consisting of four teams, will be re-drawn into Group B.

Fingers crossed.
