Immunity at 2010 WCG Finals
 Author :
01-10-2010 07:07am

The finals for another WCG finals has begun, with the games officially beginning today.

Representing Australia is Australia Immunity who earned the chance to represent Australia back in July and have had a few busy months leading up to this final. In preparation, Australia Immunity have been bootcamping in Stockholm Sweden and again in America right before the event.

As fate would have it, Australia was drawn into the group of death again this year which means chances of advancing are slim, but not impossible

Group E is by far the strongest one of the WCG 2010. We have three world-class teams and a motivated Immunity from Australia, who has been in Sweden, bootcamping for several weeks. Nonetheless, I want to point out that the group draw is very unfortunate for the Aussies. They would have easily placed second in a different arrangement but I believe the "group of death" will send them back down under, after the very first day of competition - fnatic`cArn's Group E comments

You can follow Australia Immunity's progress here, or for more immediate updates visit HLTV.org - be sure to check Team-Immunity.com and joining their steam group which they have been practively updating.

Schedule

30th Sept - 2nd Oct
GROUP E

Finished
Sweden Lions
[21:9] Australia Immunity

Finished  France Face2Face [18:12] Australia Immunity

Finished America Evil Geniuses
[22:8] Australia Immunity

Update #1

The first games began at 6:00am AEST which caught me off guard too against Sweden Lions. The Swedes started off as CT and took a 13-2 lead, and while Australia Immunity made a nice rally in the second round, unfortunately the game was over by then.

Sweden Lions > Australia Immunity 21-9

Update #2 - sommi

The demo for the Australia Immunity vs Sweden Lions is now up. Lions show their high level of experience on train and make both bombsites a very tough time for iM.

America Evil Geniuses have defeated France Face2Face at 16-6 (with a 14-1 half for EG's CT side) but went on choke rounds after their victory as it ended up 21-9.

For Immunity to make it through, they must defeat both the Americans and the French.

According to HLTV.org's betting history, Immunity's chance of defeating EG are 0.80%. Their chance of Face2Face is around the 2% mark. Immunity's chances of progressing are 0.016% or equivalent to roughly 1-2 out of every 100 times they face mid to high tier teams in group stages.

Australian Counter-Strike needs to evolve from its primitive style of play in order to stand a chance against the rest of the world.

Update #3 - sommi

The times for the next Australia Immunity match are hard to grab at the moment but from the last time it was updated they are schedule to play tomorrow morning at 2:30am and 4:30am.

In other news, the incompetency of the WCG committee have allowed TWO groups in the first Counter-Strike stage to remain with only two teams in them.

I refer you to this link: http://www.hltv.org/?pageid=216&eventid=659

Group B only consists of  Na`Vi and  Executioners

Group C only consists of  forZe and  compLexity

fnatic carn has even mentioned that WCG have a lack of Counter-Strike expertise. How long will it take them to become experts when they've been running tournaments for 8 years? Some say that WCG have a lack of experience, the majority would just call it stupidity.

Update #4 - sommi

Australia Immunity have been knocked out from the WCG 2010 International Finals losing [16:2] to France Face2Face on de_tuscan.

They are still to play America Evil Geniuses at 4:30am but there are higher chances of Australia being hit by a comet tomorrow in comparison to our chances making it out of group stages.

As a country and community we can only thank Team Immunity for carrying the Australian flag and doing their best. However, we can only wonder how we will place at the next international tournament and whether there will be any improvement.

Regardless of whether or not we were given an 'easy' group to progress out of the first stage of WCG in 2010, the primitive strategies which were heavily exploited by other international teams would not have been enough to combat many other teams.

We wish the boys good luck for their final match against the Americans and then a safe trip home. It's been a pleasure updating you all.

It was a great match and LIONS truly showed their experience as CT side. More specifically, they had extremely specific and well-placed smokes which I will be analysing with dreamR.

hltv.org shows the same time as dice/gotgames so I think the 2.30-4.30 matches are right.

f2f and EG aren't anything special. Just another team like iM who practice a lot but don't have the quality to win a major international event. Imo all 3 teams will be nearly identically skilled in terms of aim/knowledge. It will come down to whoever wants it the most and which team will cope under pressure and remain focused when the shit goes live! GL boys I have faith. Top3? =p
17.
 01/10/10 02:01pm
Hopefully iM can get the momentum rolling against those teams. GL fellas.
18.
 01/10/10 02:45pm
tbh i think if we win french team EG will "choke" and let iM win :D

iM were as sharp as lions just tactically inept with a hint of poor decision making IMO.
20.
 01/10/10 04:14pm
2 groups with 2 teams and still no room for NZ aye
21.

22.
 01/10/10 05:17pm
siiiick tuscan vs frenchies that should be a good showcase of strats that iM probably pracced heaps ...
23.
 01/10/10 05:23pm
#22 the maps being played and what teams they were playing them on were known like several weeks ago, so they probably would have pracced it (or atleast should have)
24.
 01/10/10 06:25pm
F2F tie iM
iM > EG
F2F > Lions
Lions > EG

F2F iM through groups :DDD

I'll also throw in a top2 for the #1 seed at the end of groups

25.
 01/10/10 06:29pm
if those were the results ferg, F2F/iM wouldn't be the 2 teams to go through ;) (with W=3,D=1,L=0)

Lions - 6
F2F - 4
iM - 4
EG - 3

pretty simple to see the way in which wcg is headed... just look at the official broadcast schedule... the finals they list include "Quake Wars" (woot), "Tekken 6" (cause tekken 5 got old) "WarCraft" (and i quote... "WarCraft"), "Carom3D" (arguably the most successful 'dirt cheap' game of 2010), "Counter-Strike" (thank fkn christ) and "Asphalt 5" (never played it, it's on my mobile phone... pretty sure that enforces the definition of a piece of shit game). my point is, more and more, they will gradually take on (more) games that the sponsors ask them to, and eventually, gg wcg

 02/10/10 02:38am
I cbfd finding that does it go on if theres a 2 way tie, head to head or round diff?
31.
 02/10/10 02:51am
#29 WCG has been awful for years, if not for ever. They have had some of the most retarded rules in their CS tournaments and kept them for years (and still do for some), they've always had horrible organisation and their tournaments never have all the top teams because of restrictions on countries and nationalities, they even took on CSS one year, and CZ another.. WCG has never been good, they just have the 'prestige' because they are generally in the top ~3 tournaments prize-wise for CS each year

final update posted from me I guess

Immunity lost 16-2 (with final score of 18-12) and are now knocked out.

Good luck vs. EG!

If iM won like 16-0 against EG they could still get out, because 3-way tie for 2nd.

18-12 pretty close score against the french team

Dave... read the update

They lost 16-4 to LIONS

They lost 16-2 to F2F

I don't know what the 'true' 16-x score was against EG, though.

Trust me, both Lions and F2F started mucking around after they won.
