The finals for another WCG finals has begun, with the games officially beginning today.
Representing Australia is
Immunity who earned the chance to represent Australia back in July and have had a few busy months leading up to this final. In preparation,
Immunity have been bootcamping in Stockholm Sweden and again in America right before the event.
As fate would have it, Australia was drawn into the group of death again this year which means chances of advancing are slim, but not impossible
Group E is by far the strongest one of the WCG 2010. We have three world-class teams and a motivated Immunity from Australia, who has been in Sweden, bootcamping for several weeks. Nonetheless, I want to point out that the group draw is very unfortunate for the Aussies. They would have easily placed second in a different arrangement but I believe the "group of death" will send them back down under, after the very first day of competition - fnatic`cArn's Group E comments

Update #1
The first games began at 6:00am AEST which caught me off guard too against
Lions. The Swedes started off as CT and took a 13-2 lead, and while
Immunity made a nice rally in the second round, unfortunately the game was over by then.
Lions >
Immunity 21-9
Update #2 - sommi
The demo for the
Immunity vs
Lions is now up. Lions show their high level of experience on train and make both bombsites a very tough time for iM.
Evil Geniuses have defeated
Face2Face at 16-6 (with a 14-1 half for EG's CT side) but went on choke rounds after their victory as it ended up 21-9.
For Immunity to make it through, they must defeat both the Americans and the French.
According to HLTV.org's betting history, Immunity's chance of defeating EG are 0.80%. Their chance of Face2Face is around the 2% mark. Immunity's chances of progressing are 0.016% or equivalent to roughly 1-2 out of every 100 times they face mid to high tier teams in group stages.
Australian Counter-Strike needs to evolve from its primitive style of play in order to stand a chance against the rest of the world.
Update #3 - sommi
The times for the next
Immunity match are hard to grab at the moment but from the last time it was updated they are schedule to play tomorrow morning at 2:30am and 4:30am.
In other news, the incompetency of the WCG committee have allowed TWO groups in the first Counter-Strike stage to remain with only two teams in them.
I refer you to this link: http://www.hltv.org/?pageid=216&eventid=659
Group B only consists of
Na`Vi and
Executioners
Group C only consists of
forZe and
compLexity
fnatic carn has even mentioned that WCG have a lack of Counter-Strike expertise. How long will it take them to become experts when they've been running tournaments for 8 years? Some say that WCG have a lack of experience, the majority would just call it stupidity.
Update #4 - sommi
Immunity have been knocked out from the WCG 2010 International Finals losing [16:2] to
Face2Face on de_tuscan.
They are still to play
Evil Geniuses at 4:30am but there are higher chances of Australia being hit by a comet tomorrow in comparison to our chances making it out of group stages.
As a country and community we can only thank Team Immunity for carrying the Australian flag and doing their best. However, we can only wonder how we will place at the next international tournament and whether there will be any improvement.
Regardless of whether or not we were given an 'easy' group to progress out of the first stage of WCG in 2010, the primitive strategies which were heavily exploited by other international teams would not have been enough to combat many other teams.
We wish the boys good luck for their final match against the Americans and then a safe trip home. It's been a pleasure updating you all.
so that means we have a shot at EG (who beat us at BEAT it like 16-12 with Lurppis)
!!!
hltv.org shows the same time as dice/gotgames so I think the 2.30-4.30 matches are right.
iM > EG
F2F > Lions
Lions > EG
F2F iM through groups :DDD
I'll also throw in a top2 for the #1 seed at the end of groups
Lions - 6
F2F - 4
iM - 4
EG - 3
Immunity lost 16-2 (with final score of 18-12) and are now knocked out.
Good luck vs. EG!
18-12 pretty close score against the french team
They lost 16-4 to LIONS
They lost 16-2 to F2F
I don't know what the 'true' 16-x score was against EG, though.
Trust me, both Lions and F2F started mucking around after they won.
