It was revealed last week that #TF8 established it's lineup with the addition of
Jessie "CarN" Maskell as their ingame caller, just ahead of AINC's Melbourne Qualifiers.
This was the last nail in the coffin for The NetCode Army (Team TNA), Melbourne's longest standing team since 2004.
CarN had previously been the ingame caller for TNA, however due to awkward working hours for three TNA's members, it meant their practice sessions were never productive.
Team TF8 is now:
CarN
Jastone
Hellraiser
Jnsie
Jimeh
We caught up with CarN to give us a more detailed insight into the move.
What happened with TNA and how did they take the news?
TNA was getting harder and harder to practice with 2/5 players officially working full time jobs with awkward hours.
Everyone took the news ok. Beniz didn't care because he was going overseas in 2-3 months anyway so we would of been without a 5th and there was nothing positive coming out of finding a replacement. Bish & Bailed understood my priorities and wishes. Damo will probably only hear about it as he's reading lol.
Bish actually gave me his blessing months ago to join TF8 but I felt that we could mould a good solid 5 players again but it seems that practice and scheduling is way too hard for me and him to handle when all we wanted to do was play CS 24/7 like we were 17-18 again.
Is the grass greener with TF8 so far?
Well I've got the confidence of Jastone, Jimeh, Jnsie & Hellrager to call strategies to and probably incorporate some new things I've been wanting to try with TNA for a long time, but we haven't practiced yet. From what I can tell:
- Jastone has the aim
- Jnsie is just Jnsie (love playing with him YERR)
- Jimeh is unreal. He is a player beNiz wanted to get for TNA a few years ago when he was playing for otori
- Hellraiser is the guy that has been around for years but never had a team. He's probably one of the best if not the smartest CS players online I've ever played against
I might add, Melbourne teams don't last very long so it's quite unfortunate that TNA had to die but I feel that the team I am joining will cause a big stir at any national we qualify to for only practice and time will tell :)
Do you think you'll crack GUTS as the #1 Melbourne Team?
Na I think GUTS are very good, and we have to earn their respect before we start taking them to the wire. Like a lot of ex-Melbourne lanners, even myself, never gave much respect to players like davestr1zl and funboy because they were from Mothtrap, but they've shown from hardwork, they will be a unit at the next nationals, and with OOPS, he just makes the perfect fit for them. So no, I don't see us dethroning them yet.
TF8 will be competing in Melbourne's AINC 2009 Qualifiers at MC Internet Cafe on the 24th of May (Announcement & Registration details soon).
LOL sound like jnsie already
