Question on the rule 3.2

What if a player is playing from a LAN cafe etc that has a different IP?

"The CG Servers automatically scan and detect ip addresses. These addresses are then matched to Steam ID's and player accounts. Be sure the account that is created is registered by YOU and that you will be playing from your registered IP. "

I know i had to play a few times from a lan cafe and my IP would have been different, can you clarify?

"Players can also show up as smurfing if playing from another location from where they originally registered. The team captain needs to notify the admins of what will be happening. Failing to do so the player will show as smurfing and will be treated as one"

@Pacman: iirc, we have most Internet cafe ips from our national lan center SC2 competition - so coupled with a notification it should be fine; Talnoy to confirm this.

cant play on EAC at elysium, so whats the go there?
10.
 20/02/11 12:54am
yeah playing at lan centre is fine, always post who is going to be in the match details page as the system flags a possible smurf against the players name
11.
 20/02/11 07:20pm
Yeah that's fair. Cheers for explaining.
12.
 20/02/11 08:37pm
i have static ip? and my modem gets reset pretty much every night, whats the go?
13.
 20/02/11 09:10pm
didnt you complain last season because WA lags? or some crap like that
14.
 20/02/11 09:16pm
#12 has a point, ISPs change the IPs every so often, think every month or so. That may affect the smurfing check.
15.
 20/02/11 09:56pm
The admins track your I.P. address and the 'ranges' which your ISP provider gives you so even for a non-static address (which changes every time you DC) they will still get an idea of the suburb/state you're playing from and common addresses.

looking for a team to play in green league :D
17.
 21/02/11 03:12pm
#12 Static ip's dont change unless you request it from your ISP.
There are static/dynamic ip's that only change every 2-4 weeks or so.
Even if you reset your modem it will still be within a similar range
