This weekends first Queensland Qualifier for AINC 2009 comes to a close, offering up an autoberth and an invite to the Finals in Melbourne in July. Many faces, both new and old, showed up for one of the better Queensland LAN competitions in recent times. A near-full turnout of 15 teams battled throughout the day in the lengthy format of groups followed by 8-team double elimination.
ALIAS, better recognised as an Fzero mix team breezed their way through the competition undefeated, taking down teams such as EYA and Qlimax with relative ease. Alias earnt themselves an Autoberth directly to the AINC finals after placing 1st, as the grand-final match verse team Outplayed Rookie would not be played due to members having to leave.
The top 4 placed teams were as widely predicted, just not necessarily in a specific order. Alias, Qlimax, EYA, and Outplayed Rookie were all heavy favourites. Many tipped Qlimax to place 2nd, behind Alias, and take the invite, but it was not to be as a strong Outplayed Rookie lineup took revenge on an earlier loss to Qlimax 16-10, and defeated them in the lower bracket final, 16-13, eliminating Qlimax from the competition

2. Outplayed Rookie - aspire, eddieE, goomba, sponny, syliX - Invite to AINC Finals
3. Qlimax - cr8, dekkO, exe, Takita, zone

9-15. SOL, ShopKeeps, Magical, Affinity, slaiN, Nothing, Qtab
Finals Bracket:
qual 2 will be interesting, but id be suprised if anyone other than EYA/Qlimax qualify as those 4 teams are cemented in fairly well as the top4 in qld atm.
