News has just surfaced that Anything Interactive National Cup (AINC) 2009 has been cancelled.

According to the leaked information below, it would seem like AI have gone bankrupt.
AI have officially closed their doors and issued a press release on their website stating that The Anything Interactive National Cup will not run for 2009.
Update #1: To the teams that have already booked accommodation or made travel arrangements, please do not cancel them.
Update #2: DICE in conjunction with other leaders within the community will be meet tomorrow, Saturday, to discuss and work through the problem we're facing. At present, a substitute national event is on the drawing board and will be the main topic of discussion tomorrow. Perth's Qualifier will still run this Sunday as no financial arrangements have been changed for them.
DICE will post updates as more information comes to hand.

So this is like a nats run independently?
just a comp in melb for people already booked flights or going or something?
meh, if they couldn't run it so be it. hopefully rego costs and prizes will be distributed fairly.

wonder what will happen to people who have already booked flights from invites/autoberths, people who booked flights to come down to spec (alot of CSS'ers did afaik), people who paid money to play in qualifiers ($30 ea is not cheap) to win 'nothing', people who flew interstate (or are about to) for qualifiers, money left over from rego fees / autoberths not yet 'paid' (such as melb qual rego money + interstate rego money if autoberth flights werent booked yet) the list goes on.. hopefully as much as possible of it gets sorted caus this really fks around a whole lot of people... damn shame oh well :(
now you dozens of teams/players all across australia who forked out $30 - $60 ea to win nothing, and in alot of cases be down several hundred dollars as many would have already booked flights etc in advanced... what a waste
