points -> head-to-head -> rounds.
Rounds should ALWAYS be used as an absolute last resort before all other means have been accounted for. This is especially the case when rounds arent played out, but even if they were played to a full 30 rounds head-to-head should always count first (for which assthetics won, beating you).
Its been like this at every nats - wcg, kode5, dicenats, aswell as every local comp in vic and qld. Not sure what its been like in past sydney comps, although im 99% sure its never actually come up before, nor specified in a CH 8TRR ruleset, so if 'precedent' is used its actually irrelevant as there is no precedent set (bar that of everywhere else head-to-head, and common sense, prevailing)
we asked pacman and he said it was based on precedence which is fair enough
still can't understand why it would be based on rounds though, especially when you don't play out.
not exactly fair considering if we had've started T against one of the worst teams on d2 etc it could've been 16-0
as conz said it's not about the money, but it still makes little sense to go off rounds as opposed to head to head

apparently the guys had a chat with pierre after I left and they found out it was crazy who had won and argued their point which I think is fair. but yeah I appreciate pacman for running the comp as usual. it was well run and well spirited all day but was just confused when I got home and saw the result

i looked up the scores and realised that we indeed should have come first but by this time everyone from crazy had left bar pacman so there was no real point arguing about it.
pacman explained that the decision was based on a precedence that i assume has not even occurred before. if it has then its a horrible one to begin with.
that being said thanks for running the comp pacman was an enjoyable day. however, can't see myself/gameplex attending anymore comps because everytime we win comps our prize money is our rego back
Even if it were based off some random 'precedence' people should have the knowledge and common sense to know that its a stupid ruling and not how it should be done, regardless of whether it favours them or not - its only been like this for the past several years after all.

The only alternate is that you werent aware it was a terrible decision, which, based off how long you've been playing cs, leads me my previous conclusion

I'm glad you understand now though.
If you want to use Rounds thats fine, but it should be only Rounds from the teams involved in the TIE, which is therefore Head-2-Head.
3 Way ties can get tricky, IEM doesn't play out anymore (only play first to 16)
ye and dave, its pierres comp he can run it however he likes, i clearly said that because thats how its been in previous tournaments and if you read further down
