ZAM 1.6 Masters Draw
 Author :
27-06-2009 03:32pm

Starting this Sunday, the first leg of ZAM's 1.6 Masters will kick off with 6 teams in a round robin format.

The late withdrawal of a mix team meant that a round robin format was possible, ensuring the maximum amount of games for all teams. Points will be awarded based off the final standings of the round robin, so each win/loss counts!

Final Standings

1. Australia GUTS - bl4nk, dave, gamz, kram, funboy
2. Australia b490 - b490'walle, b490'MY533, b490'Qrrrrr, b490'blazer, b490'DuoGonZi
3. Australia Fragzone - chiz, ang, nezza, unleashk, teddyt
4. Australia elmo - albz, beedee, hellraiser, namone, jastone
5. Australia Team Exult - Arm, Cadz, Huan, AndersonK, Bl4ck
6. Australia Da-MiGhtY - bulletproof, dreamr, p1kel, syn, shack

Can we play our the rounds aswell please if we have the time because it could be critical when it comes to determining who qualifies for the finals.
3.
 27/06/09 03:45pm
pwoh 5 games in a row. its gunna b a long one

#2 theres no need to play out rounds (imo), and it will only delay the competition by a pretty significant and unecessary amount.

the 'Round Difference' (ie. total rounds won minus total rounds lost = RD) is a perfectly accurate and fair way of being the final determining factor in the case of a tie, but with head-to-head obviously counting first and foremost.

(all of the above is just my opinion, dno what the actual comp is doing)

Yer but #4 just say for example 2 teams are playing on train, Team A start as ct and wins the half 12-3, then on T the take pistol and win the match 16-3, as much as that team may have stuffed up earlier in the match they probably would have won 10 rounds on ct which could be a huge difference later on in distributing invites. Thats just my opinion i dont care what happens because min 5 games for $25 is the g so thankyou for the comp being ran.

yeah definitely don't play out the rounds. so just to confirm, it goes points -> head-to-head -> round diff?

yes, there is all the ifs/buts/etc, but at the end of the day both teams will play both sides of that same map, the only difference is the order you play it in (which for all intents and purposes is no different at all - you're still both given an equal chance its up to you to do what you will with that chance though).

You could quite easily argue that doing a 'round difference' instead of playing out rounds would even be MORE accurate, as it is 100% not common to play out rounds by anyone in australia's standards. The game ends over here at 16 rounds and thats that, anything after that teams will frequently screw around and it is meaningless.

I can gaurantee you in your train example, more often than not (seen it happen time and time again), should the team that loses 16-3 playout, they would be lucky to get more than an extra 2 or so rounds as they've already lost in their minds and the other team has all the momentum.

tl;dr - anything that happens after 16 rounds is pointless and irrelevant and will only (generally) skew match results even further than they already are (eg. 16-3's end up as 27-3's etc).

i think the main problem with this comp in terms of turnout of teams was that it is still exam times for alot of people, plus people are still shuffling around their lineups etc pre-nats. id imagine the next leg will get a very decent turnout, unless every team decides to die straight after nats LOL

37.
 29/06/09 12:15am
I'll try get the demos tomorrow. Sorry I couldn't be there for longer, had to visit a friend in hosp

It'll give russ a nice break too
38.
 29/06/09 12:32am
hopefully the demos worked!
39.
 29/06/09 10:04am
I think DICE should get back and start getting some RL video clips up of people playing, some of dreamR yesterday would of been so hilarious. The shit he was doing all day was as funny as jnsie playing. Also heaps of pictures to keep the community interested and people who didnt attend the comp to see how it was etc. Would be good if you could do that again :P

Another thing, i believe the point system should be changed to a 3(win) 2(draw) 1(loss) format. This is because teams who didnt have any wins wont be on the same amount of points as some1 who didnt play in this first qual, because imo its unfair on teams like us and exult who pay the rego money basically for no advantage for teams who start to play in the next qual.
41.
 29/06/09 11:52am
We will for the next competition ted

#40 - Points for this event will be calculated differently
42.
 29/06/09 12:01pm
Thankyou.
43.
 29/06/09 12:34pm
i think ted makes a good point. pics and vids could show all those teams that didn't go what they are missing out on! Nevertheless, another #sublime comp ran by george and russ.

#40 i could be wrong, but im assuming its the placing that will count towards points, and you guys placed 6th = X amount of points.

wins/losses/draws etc will be meaningless come next comp as i highly doubt it will be anything other than double-elim unless there is a very poor turnout again
45.
 29/06/09 02:05pm
Thankyou for clearing that up for me dave and beedee :)
46.
 29/06/09 02:06pm
yeh it works like the gamapalooza forumla. eg. 1st = 9pts, 2nd = 8pts. etc. wins/losses only determines your placing for the leg
47.
 29/06/09 02:21pm
I so hope that hltv's are posted because my game against .sc was the best game ever, agreed kram, funboy and bl4nk?

Updates on the HLTV's?
52.
 29/06/09 08:34pm
Looks like the same problem as last time (no demos).

When Rusty is better we'll go and help him reimplement the server setup. ATM ZAM is in the hands of someone else while Russ recovers from a chest infection.
