dBc, WuXiA score Wildcards

Australia deathByclick (dBc) and Australia WuXiA have been chosen as the two wildcard teams for the DICE National Cup this August.

Two spare invites were made available after the Western Australian based Immunity-mix team declined their invite, aswell as a trickled invite which never found a home from the 1st Brisbane Qualifier

With a respectable placing at the 1st Sydney Qualifier, and only narrowly missing out on an invite in an overtime against Australia Exile5, team deathByclick were offered and have accepted the invite to attend the finals in August.

Australia dBc
nixske
fuLLi
k0r3
vz
sHJARP

WuXiA on the other missed out on attending the first qualifier due to one of their players being overseas at the time, however when the second qualifier drew closer, it turned out that both players PeetyG and kNyz would be overseas on a Counter-Strike related excursion.

Once it was made official that KINGS declined their invite, WuXiA were offered the last wildcard invite based on a panel of admins.

Australia WuXiA
BurtoN
kNyz
kny
PeetyG
Fizz-e

The decision is still pending on whether or not Singapore TitaNs will still accept the invite with their GameGune date being so close. Should they be unvailable, their invite will be pooled directly into the last Melbourne Qualifier on July the 19th.

I think as skillful as that team may be its unfair to just give them out an invite based on reputation where other teams which are just as skillful contribute $300 to the prizepool for no reward.

A lot of factors were taken into account when giving out those wildcards.

Are you talking about titans or the two teams mentioned here dreamr?

 11/07/09 12:26pm
Being specific WuXiA, other teams deservant of thier invites.

Before I post. "better THEN fragzone" lol..

Anyway, I can't find where I posted why Fragzone didn't get the wild card or anything along those lines. Im not 100% sure but I'm PRETTY sure I didn't. Correct me if im wrong. Your post means nothing at all... rofl. I'm only saying what everybody else is questioning.

I'm a believer in transparency but the ways in which you ask for explanations is becoming irritating.

Fragzone was not selected for a direct wildcard because there is another Melbourne Qualifier they can attend - the same Qualifier that we're counting on to fund the Nationals' prize purse as the money from the first qualifier disappeared with AI.

Anyway, news to come about WuXia

the only criticism i have is that the wildcards have been distributed before all the quals have taken place. I understand that there is little time between the last qualifier and the actual nationals, but this essentially means that melbourne hopefuls can't attain a wildcard purely because "there is another Melbourne Qualifier" to attend. don't get me wrong i'm more than happy to work for an invite - it just seems unfair to some melbournians that can't get a wildcard solely based on the date of the final qual.

my opinion :D

yes, thats true mojo and was taken into consideration, but at the end of the day it just came down to 'bad luck' really and there was nothing that could be done about it unfortunately :(

if we left it late enough for all the qualifiers to be finished, then no interstate team would be able to accept invites as it would be too late, so we were left without any other options really

true, guess it all comes back to AI dying :(

"Fragzone was not selected for a direct wildcard "

wtf?? I never asked/expected one wtf

Why didnt you invite gameplex? they beat X5 2 times. A bit better than ONE OT and a loss to X5.

 12/07/09 05:32pm
why don't you run a nats teddyt?

This is a fucking joke. It epitomizes Australian counter-strike really.

The admins complain about teams not sticking around in CS and staying together in the long run.. but that is exactly what GPX has done (as a mates team). Yet, pug teams with players who have only failed on LAN/haven't done anything particularly noteworthy i.e. nixske, peetyg, knyz manage to score invite? GPX placed better at their last nationals than any of the players in each of these teams?

Anyway, Beedee/Peki and others conspiring against GPX. I salute you in making another disgustingly bad decision in trying to help out your own mates by giving them invites to nationals.

Cheers

yeah heaps smart decision by the admins involved.

Give an invite to 'dBc' a team that doesn't even exist anymore and has won 1 laan game in history.

and another to 'WuxiA', a team of down syndrome idiots who also didn't attend either qual, and are really fkn bad at the game.

dumbcunts.
28.
 13/07/09 07:01pm
yer i gotta say was a bit weird seeing "dBc" given an invite, a team that's been around for 2 weeks :S
29.
 13/07/09 07:02pm
i can't see what criteria you've used for selecting teams ay...

like the only argument you could legitimately use for inviting dBc over us is that we didn't attend the quals (because the national dates were when some of our players were away so we didnt bother) but then you invite WuXiA..?

we'd beat dBc about 16-5 on lan everytime smart decision admin team ;)

yeah, its absolutely attrocious. I really couldn't care less if we werent picked because we didnt attend the qualifiers, because at that time the nationals dates were a time we COULDNT make. But the gifting of 'dBc' a berth because of the sole fact that they attended a qual, when Wuxia were given an invite even when they DIDNT attend one is really sad. I expect some sort of fucking explanation, this is not going to go down well..
