Registrations for the World Cyber Games 2009 Melbourne qualifier is now open.
Melbourne's Zone Adrenalan will be hosting the two day qualifier where a total of two invites and one autobirth will be up for grabs. Details on how to enter can be found below.

World Cyber Games 2008 Qualifier

Plus we have hosted 90% of all 1.6 competitions in Melbourne since 2006, I know the computers are looking long in the tooth. But they run the game at a respectable 100 fps 99% of the time just as long as people don't play around with them mid competition and run browsers like firefox in the background. It's probably going to be the last major LAN competition on these systems, so give them some <3 considering how well they have kept Melbourne 1.6 alive over the years especially when the only other places to go were cramped/expensive/poorly maintained/could not reach 100 fps.
TBH I was surprised the players just accepted they could not use mouse fix at MC, maybe there's too many randoms playing these days.
This qual needs a full turnout, so liven up Melbourne.
The difference between noforce/mousefix is seomething u can get used to in no time at all anyway + the time saved setting up not using it is a bonus

Unfortunately thats just completely not true russ :(, but meh, i still _LOVE_ zam im one of the few people who DONT complain about the current pc's there, everyone else says they're really awful atm (and the poor fps is definitely noticeable - they jsut dont bother me) so i dont really care :D. An upgrade of pc's at zam would definitely be great though!
Its true if people just play cs on the computers all day, in the early days I would not allow internet to any of the comps that are playing competitions. No forums, dota games, etc when waiting for the next game. On my computers these things unfortunately have a massive impact because they are over 5 years old.
The people who say they are awful need to compare my specs to the average PC being sold today. Its just a cycle, when I first started running competitions ZAM's pc's were better than what most power users where using at home. A time when CSS being played at 25 fps was respectable and my computers running it at 75-120 fps was amazing.
We'll soon upgrade and most likely upgrade to only the top end specs available at the time. Based on our history I don't think anyone can say ZAM doesn't deserve another Victorian WCG qualifer, the question is are there actually enough teams in Melbourne to support a 16 team competition anymore.
