It has been almost 2 months since the ZYM 1.6 Ladder fell from grace and decided to shutdown due to lack of interest from both the participating community and its admins, and since completion of this years WCG Australian Finals, the hot topic on everyones mind is "Where do we go from here?".
Fortunately for us, CyberGamer, known primarily as home to the Australian Call of Duty community, have recently opened its doors in an attempt to bring some life back into the 1.6 CS scene with its announcement of an Open 1.6 Ladder.

We managed to sit down briefly with one of the head admins over at CyberGamer, Lom "Kordial" Long and ask him a few questions concerning the ladder.
A question on a few peoples minds is, why now? It appeared as if CG had the capacity to run several ladders for their varying game types but you didnt until now, was the ZYM ladders shutdown/existance influence your decision at all?
Firstly, after our initial CG competition we had a talk about re-opening the ladder to our managers but decided against it for the time being, mainly due to the ZYM ladder being scheduled so tightly during the week. We didnt want teams to be conflicted and end up having to choose which league they'd want to play in, and we didnt see ourselves wanting to be in competition with ZYM in that regard. But we were working on the ladder while zym was going ahead, we spent alot of time and effort into creating our ruleset making sure everything was ready so we didnt suffer the same fate the ZYM ladder did
When will this ladder commence? Is there a set date listed anywhere or is it still uncertain?
kordial: We dont have a set date for when it starts as of yet, as we're still ascertaining interest. One this is for certain, there is no minimum amount of teams required and the ladder will not be locked so everyone can join up whenever they wish!
What are the differences/similiarities between this and the ZYM ladder that you hope to change to see that this ladder succeeds?
The similiarities between the CyberGamer Ladder and the ZYM Ladder are few and far between, for example there WILL be anti-cheat used in this league, X-Ray Gaming Anti-cheat which you can read more about in the ruleset located here. The coverage is a bit different however, we will be having writeups on matches similiar to ZYM and uncertain at the moment about HLTV coverage due to bandwidth restrictions at this time, demos will be available after every game for public download.
Only a few hours have passed since the official announcement was made on the CyberGamer site, and already 20 teams have put their names down for the upcoming competition. However with the rapidly increasing interest, only 1 thing is certain, dreamR WILL be available folks, get in quick.
