The IRC channel #scrim has seen a change in management from BestGN to IPGN. It was known within certain groups for some time the old owners wanted out of the service but didn't want to close the channel down completely leaving the active users without a home.
Today however it seems like IPGN have opted to take #scrim under its wing and run it through their special bot-server - a special access given by Gamesurge which basically means they don't receive flood warnings.
"I approached mcky and asked him to take the wheel as I wanted 'out' of the community. But I wanted to make sure that they had someone to look after them as I did for many years. I'm happy that someone with mcky's abilities can continue the work that Paul did (and myself to a point). Ive had many years behind the wheel now and I felt it was time to pass the torch" hsh said, and further reiterated to us that "#cscomp bot is not and never was fully coded by exile aka Peter aka kooori, it is the code from the original pES bot. Yes he did add to it, but he never built it from scratch dispite his constant claims of doing so."
So why have IPGN decided to take over the channel you ask? Well apart from the obvious answer about the superficial resources needed for a bot server, it's about "trying to improve the different CS games" mcky explained as the bot supports all three CS titles (1.6/CSS/CSP).
"It might sound a bit lame, but with the lack of teams these days you really do need a centre where those few active teams can find each other" mcky said.
With the takeover IPGN adds another impressive service to their online profile supporting the Australian Counter-Strike community. So come and check out what this bot can do and don't be afraid to suggest ideas to improve the service!

If and when CSP is embraced, it will be interesting to see which medium is used more often, IRC or GGLIVE.
